Swirl Pavilion

This project explores the geometry of curved-crease folding by spliting a cone and mirroring the parts multiple times to give it rigidity and structure. A single form can be duplicated and blened together to create a linear continuity of these forms.

In the actual fabrication, we chose the double oculus form and used sheet metal as the material. With techniques of Waterjet cutting, folding and welding of metal, we were able to create the final model which we imagine to be a small pavilion.
The project explored developable geometries not just as formal outcomes but as a mode of inquiry—testing the relationship between curvature, material constraints, and fabrication logic.
