Shenzhen Technology University, School of Design and Innovation Environmental Design Core Studio Instructors: Cheng Zeng, Yuda Huo, Huikang Li Spring 2025

This studio was part of the “Hundred-Million Project” (百千万工程) collaboration with the Luhe County government in Guangdong Province, aiming to enhance local public spaces through site-based design education.

Students conducted on-site research and community interviews to understand spatial issues in three key areas—the Luhe Camp Park, Yuexi Cultural Plaza, and the Sports Park—each facing challenges such as limited accessibility, fragmented green networks, and underused public amenities.

Through a full-semester process integrating field observation, user analysis, and spatial prototyping, students proposed landscape interventions that reactivated local parks and improved residents’ everyday experience. The final designs emphasized ecological integration, cultural continuity, and participatory spatial vitality, demonstrating how academic design practice can directly contribute to rural revitalization and civic engagement.
